An Autographed Letterhead (measures 7 1/4" x 10 1/4"). Also included is a 3 1/4" x 4" REPRO still and magazine clipping (Learn More) Joan Fontaine was an actress from the 1930s to the 1990s. One would have thought that Joan Fontaine, being the talented and beautiful sister of established star Olivia De Havilland, would have quickly achieved fame herself. However, she came to Hollywood in 1934, and only appeared in one movie in 1935. It was two years later, after she changed her name to Joan Fontaine, that she started appearing in lots of movies, but it was not until 1940's "Rebecca" (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and 1941's "Suspicion" (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) that she became a major star! As noted above, she was the sister of Olivia De Havilland, and they had a decades-long feud (sadly, there is no longer any hope of a reconciliation, because Ms. Fontaine passed away in 2013 at the age of 96). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the letterhead has been personally autographed (signed) by Joan Fontaine! Note that this letterhead is one of four similar letterheads we are auctioning (in four separate auctions), and each is "in flight" stationery from American Airlines. It seems a virtual certainty that someone named Irene was on a plane with these four people, and got them to each autograph a different sheet. Someone got a REPRO of each of those four stars with a piece of paper bearing their name (in this case, they also included a clipping from a magazine), and obviously intended to frame them together, but did not do so. Those are included with the signed letterhead. Note that this item was consigned to us by an individual who owned a company that made movies and videos with famous celebrities in the 1980s and 1990s. The owner of the company would have the celebrities sign items from their famous films, and he also had correspondence with many famous celebrities which he saved. In addition, he would sometimes ask celebrities he came in contact with if they had signed items from other stars that they would sell to him, and he purchased a number of items that way. He also would purchase unsigned items from the famed Larry Edmunds Bookshop in Los Angeles or from other reputable Hollywood book stores and poster shops (to have the celebrities sign), and while he was doing that he would also purchase some of their signed items. So all of these autographed items we are auctioning were either obtained in person, obtained from celebrities who obtained them in person, or obtained from reputable Hollywood book stores, and we feel certain that the autograph(s) on this item is authentic!
