An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) The Man from Home, the 1922 George Fitzmaurice silent romantic crime melodrama ("From the play by Booth Tarkington and Harry Leon Wilson"; with titles designed by Alfred Hitchcock, who was also the art director; about an American heiress visiting Italy, whose fiance saves a fisherman who is accused of stabbing his wife) starring James Kirkwood, Anna Q. Nilsson, Geoffrey Kerr, Norman Kerry, and Dorothy Cumming. Note that this was one of 11 movies made between 1920 and 1922 where a very young Alfred Hitchcock was the "title designer" and also one of 9 movies between 1922 and 1925 where he was art director (we suspect that this might be the only movie that he did both jobs on, because he transitioned from a title designer to an art director!). Original movie paper from any of these 19 or so movies is beyond rare and is the most difficult Alfred Hitchcock material to obtain! Of course, not long after this, he went on to become a director, and to say that he had considerable success would be an understatement. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good.
