An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

The Palm Beach Story, the classic 1942 Preston Sturges Florida screwball romantic love triangle comedy ("What a life for a runaway wife!"; perhaps Sturges' best; about a husband and wife who pretend they are not married so that the wife can romance a millionaire, and the millionaire's sister romances the husband, and things get extremely confused, and extremely funny!; this is one of Preston Sturges' best movies, and a highlight is the scene where Colbert and McCrea try to keep from getting back together, but Vallee unwittingly causes that to happen with his wonderful rendition of "Goodnight Sweetheart") starring Claudette Colbert, Joel McCrea, Mary Astor, Rudy Vallee, William Demarest, and Monte Blue. Note that Preston Sturges wanted this movie called "Is Marriage Necessary?", but the Production Code Office vetoed that!

Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Claudette Colbert AND Joel McCrea!

Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this scene card, and that was in a complete set 8 years ago! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Our consignor purchased this (and other signed cards, which we previously auctioned) from an estate sale of some of David Gest's belongings, including many lobby cards. Mr. Gest was a lobby card collector since the 1970s, and he was a close personal friend of Michael Jackson's (and later married to Liza Minnelli!), and he certainly had many opportunities to meet the celebrities who signed his cards, so we feel 100% certain that the autographs we are offering from his collection are genuine (but the auction house our consignor purchased them from did not issue certificates of authenticity). We are now auctioning the final four cards we were consigned from this cool estate sale (in four separate auctions), and after this, we will have no more of these, unless we are reconsigned any.

Condition: fair to good. Sadly, there are creases going through the upper center of the card, including through McCrea's face (but not Colbert's face or figure). While the card can of course be pressed and flattened, please bear this in mind before bidding.
