An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style D One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt, the 1943 Alfred Hitchcock family relationship crime film noir ("From an Original Story by Gordon McDonell"; "Screen Play by Thornton Wilder"; about a family whose uncle comes to town to visit, and he charms his niece, but at the same time, some widows start being murdered, and the niece suspects her uncle) starring Teresa Wright, Joseph Cotten, Macdonald Carey, Patricia Collinge, Henry Travers, Wallace Ford, and Hume Cronyn NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has what looks like a "Alfred Hitchcock" written in pen in the lower right (in the background below the hand). But it does not match the signatures of Mr. Hitchcock we have looked at, and the person who owned the poster has passed away, so we can't find out anymore about it. Therefore, we will go on the assumption that someone just wrote Mr. Hitchcock's name there, and if it turns out to be a genuine autograph, that will be a great plus, but please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept that we in no way are presenting this as a signed poster. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had paper loss at the top crossfold and some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of the vertical foldline. There was an extra horizontal fold just below the right half of the regular top and bottom foldlines, with some tears and tiny bits of paper loss between those folds. There was a large irregular tear at bottom left extending into the shoulder, hair, and cheek of Wright. There were pinholes, tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges, with some smudges and dot stains scattered in the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was simply backed with very little attempt at restoration. If I owned this cool poster, I would surely have it removed from the old linen and properly re-backed, after which it will look great (but if this is the high bidder's new plan, bear this expense in mind before placing a bid on this poster).
