An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Jumbo Movie Window Card (WC; measures 22" x 22" [56 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Swing Time, the 1936 George Stevens romantic love triangle musical dancing comedy ("With six new haunting melodies by Jerome Kern composer of 'Roberta'"; "Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers in the captivating climax of their gay young lives!..."; about a man and woman who are supposed to marry others, but they end up falling in love with each other) starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Victor Moore, Helen Broderick, Eric Blore, Betty Furness, Georges Metaxa, and Dennis O'Keefe. Note that this was one of the nine wonderful movies that Astaire and Rogers made between 1933 and 1939 (they made one final movie, "The Barkleys of Broadway", thirteen years later in 1949). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this jumbo window card! Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 22" x 22" [56 x 56 cm]. Note that this jumbo window card is not "roll-able", because, even though it is linenbacked, and would normally be able to be rolled in a tube, the poster has had significant restoration to where rolling it would damage it. Therefore we will send it in a large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 24". Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The jumbo window card's large blank top area was trimmed off, leaving a 1" border. It had been folded down the middle, and the poster had a very large number of creases, scuffs, tears, and stains scattered throughout, with pinholes, tears, and tiny paper loss around the edges. The fold down the center went through Rogers' face, and there was tiny paper loss in her cheek. There was a greater amount of damage down the left 5" of the image. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking. Many years ago, a restorer removed the window card from its heavy backing and linenbacked it. They did the best they could to restore it, given its very large number of defects described above, but it still very clearly shows its defects and the restoration. Obviously, one would much prefer a better condition example of this jumbo window card, but it might take a lifetime to find it. Additional restoration could be performed, or one could live with its defects, but bear in mind all of the above before bidding on this extremely rare poster. Learn More about condition grades
