Date Sold 8/18/2016Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Robot Monster, the 1953 Phil Tucker 3-D (3D; 3-Dimension) science fiction (sci-fi) horror thriller (perhaps the worst movie ever made; "Moon monsters launch attack against Earth!"; "Moon monsters launch Earth attack!"; "Adventures into the Future"; "How can science meet the menace of astral assassins? New science-fiction thrills!"; "Monsters attack Earth!"; "Adventures into the future in NEW Tru-3 dimension!") starring George Nader, Claudia Barrett, Selena Royle, John Mylong, Gregory Moffett, Pamela Paulson, George Barrows, and John Brown (in the title role as the voice of the robot). Note that "Plan Nine From Outer Space" has often been mentioned as the worst movie ever made, but many people feel this movie is a strong contender for that title! The making of the movie is as interesting as the movie itself (it was shot in four days, it "steals" special effects from other movies, etc). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that one-sheets and lobby cards from this classically bad movie are regularly auctioned, although most of those have had snipes over the "3D" area (when the posters were used in theaters that did not have 3-D). But the inserts and half-sheets from this movie are incredibly rare! We have only once auctioned an insert (4 years ago) and it sold for $1,750, and we have NEVER before auctioned this half-sheet, and this example has never had snipes over the "3D" area, which is even better! Note that this movie was originally in 3-D. The studios created both 3D and 2D posters and lobby cards (the 2-D posters and lobby cards were for theaters that lacked the 3-D equipment). This poster is from the "3-D" release. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has tiny paper loss at the crossfold and slight darkening in the outer edges of the left, top, and right borders. It has a tiny area of paper loss in the left of the bottom border and a few faint scuffs scattered in the image. It has a pair of staple holes near the center of the right border and two pairs in the top center of the poster. Other than these basically minor defects, the poster is in really nice condition, and best of all, it has never had anything glued or sniped over the two 3D areas, which is very unusual for posters from this movie!
