An Original Vintage Theatrical Color 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Week-End (Weekend) in Havana, the 1941 Walter Lang romantic Cuba Caribbean romantic musical comedy ("20th has made the musical all musicals will be measured by!"; about a cruise ship going to Havana that runs aground, and all the passengers accept booking on a future cruise, except for one pretty department store employee who insists on getting her vacation now, so the cruise ship has to send an employee to take her personally to Havana and show her the sights, and amazingly, they fall in love!) starring Alice Faye, Carmen Miranda, John Payne, Cesar Romero, Cobina Wright Jr., George Barbier, Sheldon Leonard, Leonid Kinskey, Chris-Pin Martin, and Billy Gilbert NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still is from a special set of "color glos" stills, which means it was printed on a photo type of paper and have a glossier front, with more vivid colors. This is something the studios experimented with in the late 1930s and early 1940s, for both 8x10 stills and 11x14 stills. Note that not only does our current auction of 999 stills represent the absolute finest selection we have ever had in terms of quality of image and film, but it also represents the finest CONDITION group of stills we have ever had! Half of the stills are graded as being in "very good to fine" condition (which is our highest grade for vintage stills), but we were very strict on this, because otherwise, perhaps two thirds or three quarters of the stills would have received this grade! We downgraded stills to "very good" for pretty minor defects, and many of these might have received our "very good to fine" grade in the past. And the half of the stills that ARE in very good to fine condition would likely be graded "mint" by any other auction!
