Zanuck made this film version of it, and because it had taken so long to reach the screen, it was given the tagline "At last... It's on the screen!"; about a family of uneducated Georgia farmers who have valuable land that is ultimately taken away from them, and director John Ford had difficulty translating the play to the screen, because of the censorship of the day; Gene Tierney and Dana Andrews were the romantic leads, but they ended up with only a few minutes of screen time together, and Charley Grapewin's character "stole" the picture!) starring Charley Grapewin, Marjorie Rambeau, Gene Tierney (in her third movie role!), William Tracy, Dana Andrews, Slim Summerville, Ward Bond, Grant Mitchell, and Zeffie Tilbury NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release lobby cards from this John Ford movie are very rare, especially the ones with the best scenes and the title card. We have only once before auctioned a complete set of eight from the first release, and those were in similar condition to this set. We would think that the vast majority of first release sets were long ago "broken up" and sold by the card, and that would explain why a complete set from the first release is nearly impossible to find. While this set has clear condition defects, it does give collectors a chance to get a complete set all at once, something that would likely take many years to do otherwise! Condition: good. Most of the cards have pinholes in the corners and several have some yellowed pieces of tape or tape stains and the tape was put there to cover tears. There are some smudges, scuffs and tears within the images. Some of the cards have brown paper tape on the back.
