Opernball (literally translates to "Opera Ball"), the 1939 (released in the U.S. in 1940) Geza von Bolvary German/Austrian musical mistaken identity romantic comedy farce (about three couples at a masquerade ball in Austria, and the husbands mistake the other men's wives for their own) starring Paul Horbiger, Marte Harell, Will Dohm, Heli Finkenzeller, Theodor Danegger, and Erika von Thellmann

Artist: Anselmo Ballester
Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare Italian poster from during World War II! Virtually no Italian posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II (mostly only some heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in Italy during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all posters from before World War II, and also from during the war, and the first few years afterwards!

Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a German program from this movie until we received this Italian poster!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had paper loss in the top corners extending very slightly into the edge of the image background, with a few tears in that area and a fold across the top 1" of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
