An Original Vintage Folded Czech World War II Poster (measures 18 3/4" x 24 1/2" [48 x 62 cm]) (Learn More) Beseitige Die Mangel der Brennstellen (literally translates to "Eliminate the Deficiency of the Fires."), the 1940s Czechoslovakian World War II (WWII) Home Front poster (in Czech and German, with a tagline that translates to "Save Coal") encouraging people to prepare their coal-burning stoves for peak efficiency. This poster features art of a man kicking a stove and speaking to people about saving coal. Note that we cannot be certain that this poster was printed during WWII. While the poster is printed in both German and Czech, Czechoslovakia did have a large ethnic German population prior to the start of the war (the purported suffering of these people was the justification for the German annexation in 1938). However, the poster was printed in the city of Pardubice, which was not in the areas with heavy concentration of ethnic Germans, so we believe it may have been printed during the German occupation. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: fair to good. The poster has slight discoloration scattered in various areas and some deterioration and paper loss along portions of the folds (making it slightly fragile.)
