R53 Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) The Bride of Frankenstein, the classic 1935 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("The Monster Demands a Mate!"; "The monster thriller"; "Who will be The Bride of Frankenstein. Who will dare?"; the second of the Universal Frankenstein movies, and the only example I am aware of where a sequel is clearly superior to the original movie!; this is James Whale's masterpiece, and almost everyone agrees it is among the finest movies ever made, regardless of genre) starring Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Colin Clive (as Dr. Henry Frankenstein), Valerie Hobson (as the bride of Dr. Frankenstein), Elsa Lanchester (in the title role as the bride of the Frankenstein monster, and also as Mary Shelley!), Una O'Connor, Ernest Thesiger (as Dr. Pretorius), E.E. Clive, O.P. Heggie, John Carradine, Dwight Frye (as Karl), Gavin Gordon, and Neil Fitzgerald NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. prior to paperbacking, the poster was in very good condition. The poster had extra creases along the left half of the horizontal foldline and the top border of the poster was tattered. There were large pinholes in each corner. There was a pair of staple holes in the top of the white tagline box at left and some faint smudges over the monster's mouth and nose, as well as a pair of staple holes in the monster's lips. There is a very faint fine scuff line that runs from the monster's left ear through his upper lip. The paperbacking was very expertly done and new paper was laid over much of the top blank border, and the poster's other minor defects were restored. It was extremely well done, and it is difficult to see the restoration the poster has had even when looking from very close-up (when the poster is tilted to the light, you can see the faint scuffs and smudges in the monster's nose and lips). Note that this poster was backed onto heavy paper (like a light board) and can not be rolled. It will be sent in a large flat package. This will increase the cost of shipping, especially if this poster is sent outside the U.S. Learn More about condition grades
