An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 12" x 18" [30 x 46 cm]; 8 pages) (Learn More) the 1956 double-bill release of Ernest Hemingway's The Killers, the 1946 Robert Siodmak (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award) crime film noir ("From the story by Ernest Hemingway"; "Produced by Mark Hellinger"; "It's told the untamed Hemingway way!"; "Tense! Taut! Terrific!"; the screenwriter, Anthony Veiller, came up with a "prequel" to the classic short story, and he devised a very interesting and very believable back-story that would explain the actions of the characters in Hemingway's story) starring Burt Lancaster (in his first screen role; billed as "introducing Burt Lancaster"), Ava Gardner, Edmond O'Brien, Albert Dekker, Sam Levene, Charles D.
