Date Sold 10/22/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original 1970s Vintage Magazine (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]) (Learn More) Zorro's Fighting Legion, the 1939 John English & William Witney south-of-the-border masked hero cowboy western serial ("A Republic serial in 12 chapters"; we have never seen this movie, but based on the advertising, we can tell that Zorro recruits a whole lot of guys to be "assistant Zorros"; we wonder where they ordered all those Zorro costumes from!) starring Reed Hadley (in the title role as Don Diego/Zorro), Sheila Darcy, William Corson, Leander De Cordova, Edmund Cobb, and Carleton Young (as Benito Juarez). Note that we show no record of a U.S. release of this serial as an edited feature version, but it seems that such a version was created for international release, because the non-U.S. posters we have seen make no reference to it being a serial. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this 16-page booklet was published by Jack Mathis. It has a summary of the serial and summaries of each chapter, with scenes from each chapter. Mathis also printed re-creations of original serial pressbooks from the 1930s and 1940s, and sometimes these tribute pressbooks are mistakenly sold as originals. Also note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and pictures of interior two-page spreads (including the table of contents page if there is one; but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine, and the contents page lets you know exactly what articles and stories are contained in this particular issue. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided.
UPDATED 10/22/2017: Note that we inadvertently used the date of the serial, when this magazine was created in the 1970s. Condition: very good. Note that we have attempted to check to see if the magazine is complete and uncut, and we believe that it is. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazine. We have solely provided an overall description of the condition of the magazine, but you can also refer to our super-sized images. Please bid (or not bid) based on that overall grade and by viewing the super-sized images. Learn More about condition grades
