An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) The Hard Way, the 1942 Vincent Sherman romantic sister family relationship melodrama ("Sister Love ...and Hate!"; "A story of two sisters' love so intense it brought nothing but hate!"; "Don't judge her by the way she looks or the things she's done to her sister"; "There are two sides to every story ... And every woman"; "You'd never believe they're sisters!"; "Sisters face to face ...one burning with love ...the other seething with hatred! A story of crushing power!"; "Magnificently, will this drama stir your senses... and move you! See it!") starring Ida Lupino, Dennis Morgan, Joan Leslie, Jack Carson, Gladys George, Faye Emerson, and Paul Cavanagh NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not well restored. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would surely benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had extra foldlines, and had creases, tears, and surface paper loss on many foldlines. There was water staining across the poster at the top of the title and into the bottom of Joan Leslie's credit. There were creases, smudges, stains, tears, and small paper loss around the edges of the poster. The person who backed the poster simply backed it "as is", without any restoration. If I owned the poster, I would either have it re-backed, or see if a restorer could perform restoration without re-backing the poster, but I would think few collectors would be happy to display the poster as it is, and would only do so after further restoration was performed.
