An Original 1930 Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Die Weisse Holle vom Piz Palu (released in the U.S. in 1930 as "The White Hell of Pitz Palu"), the 1929 Arnold Fanck (billed as "Arnold Fauck") & G.W. Pabst (Georg Wilhelm Pabst) silent German mountain climbing search melodrama starring Leni Riefenstahl, Gustav Diessl, Ernst Petersen, Ernst Udet, and Mizzi Goetzel. Note that some of the action mountain climbing footage from this movie was re-used in several movies by Universal, most impressively in the serial "Flash Gordon Conquers the Universe". Note that Arnold Fanck was a German director who loved skiing and made many "mountain films" that included skiing sequences. In this movie, he was teamed with one of the greatest directors of all time, G.W. Pabst! Also note that this was a silent movie made in 1929 and released in Germany in Austria at that time. In 1930, a dubbed sound version was released in the U.S., and in December 1935, a new "sound version" was given a major re-release in Germany (and it was released in Austria the following year). Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: poor. The card has significant paper loss in the lower left. It also has stains and other defects scattered throughout. Obviously, one would much prefer to find a better example of this card, but we have never auctioned it before, and we might never get to auction another one! Learn More about condition grades
