Auction History Result 4509 VARSITY SHOW 2 lobby cards '37 Dick Powell, Fred Waring Date Sold 12/21/2004Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 2 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (measure 11" x 14") (Learn More) Varsity Show, the 1937 William Keighley all-star musical ("Rah Rah"; "From an Original Story by Warren Duff and Sig Herzig"; "Music and Lyrics by Dick Whiting & Johnny Mercer"; with a "Finale Created and Directed by Busby Berkeley"; ) starring Dick Powell, Fred Waring ("AND His Pennsylvanians"), Ted Healy (most famous as the person who started The Three Stooges; they were first billed as "Ted Healy and his Stooges"; he let them go on their own, hiring replacement "Stooges", but that did not work out well at all!), Priscilla Lane, Rosemary Lane, Walter Catlett, Johnny Davis (who was known as "Johnny Hot-Note Davis", because of his trumpet playing), Buck and Bubbles (Ford Washington Lee and John William Sublett), Poley 'Frog-Voice' McClintock, George 'Spanky' McFarland, and Sterling Holloway NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
