An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

Penrod, the 1922 Marshall Neilan & Frank O'Connor juvenile comedy short ("Adapted from Booth Tarkington's celebrated book and play"; the first of a series of movies) starring Wesley Barry (in the title role as Penrod; billed as "Freckles Barry"), Tully Marshall, Claire McDowell, John Harron, Gordon Griffith, Newton Hall, and Baby Peggy. Note that this was Baby Peggy's very first feature film! She was the second most famous silent child actor after Jackie Coogan. She made around 150 comedy shorts between 1920 and 1923, and appeared in nine feature films. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this comedy short is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet, five lobby cards, and three glass slides (and NO other movie paper of any kind) from this movie. That one-sheet has now been reconsigned to us, so it is still the only example we have ever auctioned!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds, with a few tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some folds. It had some pinholes and tears around the edges, with paper loss in the top corners, caused by rough removal of the pins. It had some smudges and scuffs in the solid black areas. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
