An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Tri-Folded Six-Sheet Movie Poster (6sh; measures 81" x 81" [206 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Barnacle Bill, the 1941 Richard Thorpe waterfront sailor family relationship romantic comedy ("That funny pair is together again! Wally and Margie are a Riot!"; this was an attempt by MGM to recapture the big successes that Wallace Beery had with Marie Dressler in the early 1930s, but Dressler was no longer alive, so MGM substituted Marjorie Main, another "battleaxe" type, plus they gave Beery a daughter he never knew he had, played by Virginia Weidler) starring Wallace Beery (in the title role as Bill Johansen), Marjorie Main, Leo Carrillo, Virginia Weidler, Donald Meek, and Barton MacLane NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Finally, note this six-sheet poster was tri-folded only (which means there is one less vertical machine fold than usual). This means the poster has a significantly lesser number of folds than with six-sheets folded in the "regular" way, which is nice! Tri-folded six-sheets need to be sent in an oversized flat package, which measures roughly 13" x 30", so they cost more to send than regularly folded six-sheets, especially if they are sent to non-U.S. addresses. Condition: fair. The poster was kraftbacked (see above). There is discoloration scattered throughout the poster from exposure to moisture. There are many significant defects scattered along the edges of the poster, and there is wear and bits of paper loss along the foldlines and there were many areas of foldline and/or crossfold separation. Some of the crossfolds have paper loss (including the kraftbacking itself). Please see our super-sized image to get a good sense of the condition of this item prior to placing a bid and please do not bid unless you can accept the defects described above, or you are willing to pay to have them properly restored.
