An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Zenobia, the 1939 Gordon Douglas southern country medical doctor circus elephant screwball comedy ("What a Girl!"; "It's got fun... It's got zip... It's got Zenobia!"; "She brought a new kind of love to the South"; "Zenobia's easy to know... Hard to get... Impossible to get rid of.."; produced by Hal Roach; about a country doctor who cures a sick circus elephant, and afterwards, the elephant follows him everywhere!) starring Oliver Hardy (in a solo appearance without Stan Laurel), Harry Langdon, Billie Burke, Alice Brady, James Ellison, Jean Parker, June Lang, Stepin Fetchit, Hall Johnson Choir, Hattie McDaniel, Philip Hurlic, and Zenobia the elephant (in the title role!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that by the time of the release of this movie, both top-billed Oliver Hardy's (separated from Stan Laurel) and Harry Langdon's stars had fallen so much that the poster designer for this movie chose to put an image of pretty Billie Burke and Alice Brady, without an image of either Hardy or Langdon! Actually, the movie is about a country doctor who heals a sick circus elephant, and the elephant starts following him everywhere, so this movie certainly could have had a wonderful one-sheet picturing Hardy, Langdon, and the elephant! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and minor fold wear. It had a faint 6" vertical scuff mark in the left of the girl at top right, running down the left of her eye into her cheek. It also had some pinholes around the edges and some faint stains in the bottom blue area. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
