An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) The Girlfriends, the circa 1932 Vitaphone comedy short ("A Vitaphone Short Subject"; "They're both funny in a big way") starring Thelma White (billed as "Thin Thelma White"), and Fanny Watson (billed as "Fat Fanny Watson"; in these days of political correctness, I would not be looking for a re-make of this movie anytime soon!). Apparently, there was a series of these "Girlfriends" comedies, but I can find no information about them. Note that the one-sheet for this movie is undated, but it has a litho number, and comparing this number to our massive database of litho numbers taken from actual movie posters, we can determine that this poster is almost certainly from 1932! If anyone knows more about this movie or this series, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Phillips Condition: good to very good. This poster was linenbacked, and it had fairly significant defects which were somewhat repaired during the linenbacking process (we describe both the defects as well as the quality of the restoration below). You should also look at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). the poster was folded in half an extra time; there was paper loss at the crossfolds in all three foldlines and tears and small tears of paper loss across all three foldlines; there were creases, tears, and areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. The poster was pretty well linenbacked. From any distance away, you don't really notice the restoration. Learn More about condition grades
