An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 14" x 17 3/4" [36 x 45 cm]) (Learn More)

Charlie Chan's Secret, the 1936 Gordon Wiles Asian detective crime mystery thriller ("Is Chan doomed at last?"; "Death strikes unseen! Dread peril threatens! But his lips are sealed! Why?"; "Based on the character 'Charlie Chan' created by Earl Derr Biggers") starring Warner Oland (in the title role as Charlie Chan), Rosina Lawrence, Charles Quigley, Henrietta Crosman, Edward Trevor, Astrid Allwyn, Herbert Mundin, Ivan Miller, and Francis Ford. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY first release U.S. movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned one example of a window card (it was heavily trimmed, and we auctioned that same window card twice), as well as a few lobby cards and stills from this movie (and NO other first release U.S. movie paper items) until we received this second window card, which is in far superior condition! Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 14" x 17 3/4" [36 x 45 cm].

Condition: very good. Part of the blank top was trimmed off. There is some darkening and a few stains in the blank borders, with a scuff mark in the lower left that extends into the woman's shoulder. There is a smudge at the bottom of the "S" of "CHAN'S" and slightly in the "E" below it. Otherwise, the card is in nice condition, and it has had no restoration!
