An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Sunnyside, the 1919 Charles Chaplin multiple reel silent comedy short ("His Third Million Dollar Comedy"; "I'll never leave my dear old farm") starring Charlie Chaplin (Charles Chaplin), Edna Purviance, Tom Wilson (a large white man who specialized in playing black roles in the early silent days when studios were reluctant to hire African Americans; he would put burnt cork on his face and skin!; he appeared in The Kid, but not in a black role), Tom Terriss, Henry Bergman, Loyal Underwood, and Tom Wood (nicknamed "Fatty") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that until 2023, we thought that all of the lobby cards from the first release of this movie were printed on thinner paper than normal (this is something that First National did at this time, and they switched to "thicker" paper cards at some point in 1919. So, because this card is printed on thicker paper, we THOUGHT it was a 1920s re-release. But new research shows that it is first release! What is that new evidence? It is that this title card has "First National Exhibitors Circuit" printed in the logo, while the early re-release cards have "First National Pictures" in that same logo (they must have changed that information some time right after the end of 1919). So, the card offered here IS a first release 1919 title card that is printed on typical heavier paper stock. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. The card was in a frame and the back of the card darkened and some portions of the front of the blank borders. It has a fine scuff line across the upper background area and two partial horizontal creases near the center, with one going through Chaplin's mouth. There is a 2" vertical cut running from the bottom of the "h" of "Third" and down into the top of the first "N" of the title. There is some tape on the back of the top and bottom borders, and some tape was removed from the back of the other borders from where it was removed from the frame. In spite of all of the above, the card displays pretty well just as it is, or certainly, restoration could be performed, but please bear the above in mind before bidding.
