Horne & Charles Rogers historical European royalty gypsy romantic musical screwball comedy ("90 mad, merry musical moments!"; "Based on the Opera by Balfe"; produced by Hal Roach, who also an uncredited director and writer!; about two very bumbling gypsies, one of whose wives steals the infant daughter of a nobleman, and they raise her as their own, and only when she grows up does she learn of her royal birth) starring Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy (Laurel and Hardy), Thelma Todd (her final screen appearance before her mysterious death), Antonio Moreno, Mae Busch, Darla Hood, Julie Bishop (billed as "Jacqueline Wells"), and Mae Busch. Note that when this movie was made, "gypsies" were a stereotype villain in movies of this sort. Fortunately, in recent years, great efforts have been made to eliminate these stereotypes, and even the word "gypsy" itself has been mostly eliminated, replaced by "Romani".
