An Undated (probably 1940s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Argentinean Movie Poster (measures approximately 29" x 43") (Learn More) Congorilla, the 1932 Osa & Martin Johnson Africa jungle safari documentary ("It is the thrill of your life!"; "The one and only talking picture entirely made in Africa!"; "Big apes and little people"; "Thrillingly penetrating the core of the world!") featuring "Mr. & Mrs. Martin Johnson". Note that Osa Johnson was married to Martin Johnson, and that they made African documentary movies for 20 years, but Martin Johnson was killed in 1937 during the filming of "Borneo", but his wife finished the movie and released it after his death, and she also released one final movie, "I Married Adventure", in 1940, three years after her husband's death, and on that movie, she was billed as "Osa Johnson (Mrs. Martin Johnson)". NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Osvaldo Venturi Important Added Info: Note that an advanced collector of Argentinean posters tells us that this poster (and other Argentinean posters from Guaranteed Pictures) are not from 1943, but are actually from the mid-to-late 1940s, and that they are re-releases. The date of 1943 comes from the poster but that is actually part of the company's street address! Apparently, Guaranteed Pictures made a deal to re-release several classic movies in the mid 1940s, and they produced posters for those re-releases with great art by the wonderful Argentinean poster artist, Osvaldo Venturi. Please do not bid on this poster thinking that it is a first release from 1943 as it is a mid-to-late 1940s re-release. Condition: good to very good. fine white lines in the upper right of the image area that appear to have been caused by creases in the paper when the poster was printed; poster has darkened somewhat with age as is comon with posters of this type; areas of tattering and paper loss around the edges of the poster (more so in the upper right edges); extra foldlines running parallel to the regular foldlines from the poster being folded oddly; minor creases, smudges, and scuffs throughout the poster (more so along the foldlines); tack holes throughout the poster (more so around the edges) Learn More about condition grades
