An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 8 1/2" x 11"; 4 pages) (Learn More) Dracula, the 1931 stage play production ("The world famous vampire thriller"; of the classic Bram Stoker novel). After the opening of the movie version of Dracula in February of 1931, Bela Lugosi starred in a revival of the stage version of "Dracula" (again playing the lead role of Count Dracula, which he had first played when the play had opened in 1927, and which led him to be cast in the movie version, when the ailing Lon Chaney Sr could not play the part!). The play opened in March of 1931 in Jamaica, Queens in New York, and moved to Broadway in April of 1931, but it closed there after only eight performances (probably theatergoers refused to pay Broadway prices for a show that they could pretty much see, in an improved version at their local movie theater). This is a rare herald for the Jamaica stage version of the show from March 2, 1931. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: This herald was folded in half at one time as was originally intended. Condition: fine. There is the most minor of surface paper loss down the foldline, but otherwise, the herald is in near perfect condition! Learn More about condition grades
