Soon a legend."; "From the California gold fields - to the Louisiana bayous, he drank and killed and loved and never forgot how to hate!"; "based on the character in 'The Carpetbaggers' created by Harold Robbins", "Screen story and screenplay by John Michael Hayes"; this was a "prequel" to the earlier movie, with McQueen playing a younger version of the character memorably played by Alan Ladd) starring Steve McQueen (in the title role as Nevada Smith), Karl Malden, Brian Keith, Arthur Kennedy, Suzanne Pleshette, Raf Vallone, Janet Margolin, Howard da Silva, Pat Hingle, and Martin Landau NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare 1960s double-sided poster. There was a small group of such 1960s double-sided posters that were found a number of years ago, and included in that group that was found was a "Breakfast at Tiffany's", which was auctioned in London, and sold for a HUGE amount of money! It appears that it was some sort of experiment that was tried in the 1960s and then abandoned, and not used again until the 1990s, when movie posters were sometimes made in double-sided versions (for use in light boxes). Over the years since these were first discovered, we have been consigned a very few of these early experimental double-sided posters from a few different titles, but they are extremely rare! Of course, in this case, the poster has been linenbacked, so you can no longer see the printing on the reverse side, and you can't really tell that it was double-sided. Also note that this one-sheet measures 27 1/2" x 41 3/4" [70 x 106 cm]. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had many creases and scuffs along the folds, with some tiny surface paper loss on parts of the folds. The top 1" was folded back at one time, and there were some creases and scuffs around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
