An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Swedish Movie Poster (measures 28" x 39 1/4" [71 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Smultronstallet (released in the U.S. in 1959 as "Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries"), the classic 1957 Ingmar Bergman Swedish reflections-on-the-meaning-of-life family relationship melodrama (about a successful elderly doctor and his troubled relationship with his adult son, who is also a doctor, and his extended family, and he looks back over his long life, and he has disturbing dreams about his first romance and about his impending death) starring Victor Sjostrom, Bibi Andersson, Gunnar Bjornstrand, Ingrid Thulin, Folke Sundquist, Bjorn Bjelvenstam, Naima Wifstrand, and Jullen Kindahl. Note that Sjostrom was a major Swedish director starting in 1912 and in 1920 was hired by MGM where he had great success. He mostly quit directing with the advent of sound, but he became a mentor to Ingmar Bergman, and he took the lead role in this movie, and was incredible in it! We are also auctioning a different first release Swedish poster from this movie in a separate auction Note also that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Swedish movie! Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: fair. The poster is in lesser condition. There are some visible creases, defects, areas of paper loss and tears of varying lengths along parts of some edges and there is significant foldline separation and paper loss especially in the vertical foldline at left which has some discoloration and paper loss. A budding artist drew a pencil grid over the star's face at center. A few tiny defects are backed with conservation tape. There is a faint embossed Dutch censor stamp in a one corner. After proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
