An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Journey's End, the 1930 James Whale English/U.S. World War I (WWI) military melodrama ("The greatest screen drama of all time"; "An All-Talking Tiffany Production"; "From the play by R.C. Sherriff"; the writer of the movie, R.C. Sherriff, had been a soldier in World War I, and he wanted to truthfully depict the psychological horrors of serving in war, and he did so successfully in his screenplay for this movie, which had top actors) starring Colin Clive ("by special permission of Maurice Browne, Ltd"), Ian Maclaren, Anthony Bushell, David Manners, Charles Gerrard, Thomas Whitley, and Billy Bevan (one of the better Charlie Chaplin imitators of the time). Note that it was the success of this movie that would raise James Whale's profile and get him signed to Universal, and get him the directing assignment on the following year's "Frankenstein" (and he cast Colin Clive, whom he had worked with on this movie). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that Tiffany productions, which produced this movie, were expecting it to be a major hit, and so they created a wonderful lobby set, with eight artwork lobby cards, each a beautiful full painting, something none of the other studios did, except for William Fox, who did it on his top productions of the 1920s. The cards from this movie are one of those movies with full artwork lobby cards, printed on a textured paper, and they really are spectacular! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. There was a V-shaped tear in the belly of the soldier near the center, and there is tape on the back. There are pinholes around the edges. The card was printed with a "full bleed", so there are no blank borders, but it was printed that way. Learn More about condition grades
