The African Queen, the classic 1952 (the movie briefly played in December of 1951, no doubt to qualify for the 1952 Academy Awards, but most sources list it as a 1952 movie) John Huston (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English/U.S. romantic World War I (WWI) military adventure thriller ("Actually filmed in the splendor and dangers of the Belgian Congo!"; "The mightiest adventure ever filmed!"; "Based on the novel 'The African Queen' by C.S. Forester") starring Humphrey Bogart (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Katharine Hepburn (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Robert Morley, Peter Bull, Theodore Bikel, Walter Gotell, Peter Swanwick, and Richard Marner. Note that although this movie opened at the end of 1951, all of the original release U.S. movie paper for this title has a 1952 NSS number (but has a 1951 copyright date).

Important Added Info: Note that there are 1960s re-release front of house lobby cards that are glossy, and are easily distinguished from originals, if you know the difference. But they are often sold as first release. The card offered here IS from the first 1953 English release of this classic movie. Also note that this is a "country of origin" lobby card for this partially English movie!
