And now Alec Guinness as 'The Man in the White Suit'"; "Ealing Studios present another comedy"; about a man who invents fabric that never gets dirty or wears out, and how the garment industry tries to suppress it) starring Alec Guinness ("Britain's Top Comedian will have you in stitches"), Joan Greenwood, Cecil Parker, Michael Gough, and Ernest Thesiger NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: A.R. Thomson & S. John Woods Important Added Info: Note that this poster, which is a "country of origin" poster for this classic English Ealing comedy starring Alec Guinness, is the extremely rare first release British quad! How do we know for certain? In 2016, we had an undated English one-sheet, and we checked with Sim Branaghan, the world's leading authority on British posters, and he told us for certain that it was an undated 1950s re-release, from between 1955 and 1957. While we were auctioning that poster, a collector contacted us that he had a British quad, and that he did not know if it was first release or not, and he sent us pictures of it and asked us to ask Mr. Branaghan whether it was first release or not. We did so, and Mr. Branaghan assured us that it was absolutely from the first release! Now, a year later, the collector has consigned the poster to us, and we are auctioning it here. And we are 100% certain it is from the very first release of this most classic movie (and we have never auctioned it before). Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster has some creases and small tears in parts of the borders, with tiny paper loss in the right of the top border, and diagonal creases in the corners. This extremely rare poster can absolutely be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, it would be a very simple linenbacking, and afterwards, it will look incredible, and require very little paint restoration anywhere on the poster.
