An Undated (probably 1990s) Re-Release Theatrical Unfolded Cuban Movie Poster (measures 20" x 30" [51 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) Las Doce Sillas (released in English-speaking countries as "The Twelve Chairs"), the 1962 Tomas Gutierrez Alea Cuban comedy starring Enrique Santisteban, Reynaldo Miravalles, Rene Sanchez, Pilin Vallejo, and Idalberto Dalgado. Note that there were an amazing 25 (at least) different movie and TV adaptations based on this same novel by Ilya Ilf and Yevgeni Petrov, with the first in 1933. At first, there were 13 chairs, but at some point, they lowered that to 12, and the remaining movie adaptations had 12! Surely this must be close to some sort of record for most adaptations for a non-classic novel! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that silkscreen (also known as screen printing) is a printing technique whereby a mesh is used to transfer ink onto a poster. Only one color is printed at a time, so several screens must be used to produce a multicolored design, and it is a laborious technique because it is traditionally all done by hand. Because of the rich thickness of the layer of color on the paper and the resulting depth and brilliance achieved through silkscreen printing, this technique was preferred by many artists throughout many cultures and periods. Note also that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Cuban movie! Condition: very good to fine. The poster has never been folded and it is in very nice condition!
