An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Darkest Africa, the 1936 B. Reeves Eason & Joseph Kane jungle fantasy adventure serial ("A Republic Serial in 15 Episodes"; "Original story by John Rathmell and Tracy Knight"; about animal trainer Beatty helping a boy and his sister escape from a power-mad high priest in the lost city of Joba) starring Clyde Beatty ("World's Greatest Wild Animal Trainer"), Manuel King ("World's Youngest Wild Animal Trainer"; as Baru, son of the jungle!), Cole Bros Beatty Circus, Elaine Shepard, Lucien Prival, Wheeler Oakman, Edward McWade, and Ray 'Crash' Corrigan (in a dual role, as Bonga the gorilla and also as Samabi the guard!). Note that Crash Corrigan made a REALLY wise investment in the 1930s, when he bought a "gorilla suit". In many of the movies in the 1940s where there is a fake gorilla, it is played by Crash Corrigan, no doubt because he could supply the suit! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this poster, and the last one was sixteen years ago! Also note that Republic at this time would, for their serials, create a one-sheet for the entire serial, as well as a poster for each individual chapter. The poster offered here is the one for the entire serial! Condition: good to very good. The poster once had a rectangular snipe glued to the bottom center (likely when it was used for showing a specific chapter), and it was removed, but it left paper remnants glued to the surface of the poster. It has small paper loss at the top crossfold and tiny paper loss at the other two crossfolds. It has pinholes in the corners and minor border wear. Learn More about condition grades
