A Linenbacked Travel Poster (measures 25 1/4" x 39 3/4" [64 x 101 cm]) (Learn More) TWA: Rome, the 1950s airplane airline aviation travel poster designed to promote tourism to Rome aboard Trans World Airlines, and featuring colorful art of the Fountain of Neptune (Fontana del Nettuno) in the Piazza Navona by David Klein. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that we have seen two versions of TWA Rome posters with this art. Some have a Constellation aircraft at upper right and "TWA Trans World Airlines" at bottom, and some have an image of a Super Constellation aircraft at upper right under the tagline "Fly TWA". We think that both date from 1950s, but the one with the regular Constellation and "TWA Trans World Airlines" at bottom likely predates the one with the Super Constellation. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: David Klein Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had a few tiny stains in the upper right border, with a diagonal tear in the top right blank corner, and a tiny tear in the left of the top border. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above.
