An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Photolobby (11x14; LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Under Your Spell, the 1936 Otto Preminger romantic musical (about a famous singer who wants to quit the business, and he goes to a ranch in Mexico, but he meets a rich woman who loves celebrities, and they ultimately fall in love) starring Lawrence Tibbett, Wendy Barrie, Gregory Ratoff, Arthur Treacherd, and Gregory Gaye. Note that Lawrence Tibbett was a singer during the 1930s (but best remembered from the Metropolitan Opera), who appeared in several movies as, naturally, an opera singer. He was the first to play the leading role in many famous operas, including the role of Brutus Jones, in The Emperor Jones (which he played in blackface)! Darryl F. Zanuck signed him to a multi-picture contract, sure he would be a major star, but alas, he was not, and he only appeared in a few movies. Later, he had throat problems, which led to a drinking problem (or perhaps vice versa), and his later years were unhappy. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that on this movie, 20th Century Fox solely issued a "photolobby" set with glossier color scenes from the movie. We have no idea why 20th Century-Fox did this, but it seems to be something they experimented with in the 1930s and early 1940s on certain movies (sometimes they would issue a regular lobby card set plus a color-glos set as well).
