An Original 1938 (from the first release of this movie in England) Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 9 1/2" x 12" [24 x 30 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) Born to the West, the 1937 Charles Barton cowboy western (based on the novel by Zane Grey) starring John Wayne, Marsha Hunt, Johnny Mack Brown, Monte Blue, Lucien Littlefield, and Nick Lukats. Note that the IMDb claims that there was a "clerical error" that resulted in Alan Ladd's name being added to the cast (as "Inspector"), but that he was not actually in the movie (he was in just a few movies at this time in very minor roles). Apparently, this clerical error was repeated in 1950, because when the movie was re-released that year (under the title of "Hell Town"), Alan Ladd's name appeared prominently in the credits! Important Added Info: Note that first release movie paper from this John Wayne western is incredibly rare (we have auctioned the one-sheet, but no other U.S. first release paper, not even lobby cards or stills). This English pressbook lets you see many of the different posters (we have pictured the back page with two of the posters on it, but there is an interior page that is not pictured that shows several other posters). Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this English pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!
