An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Spider Woman Strikes Back, the 1946 Arthur Lubin horror thriller ("Mistress of menace!") starring Gale Sondergaard (in the title role "As the Spider Woman!"), Kirby Grant, Brenda Joyce, Milburn Stone, and Rondo Hatton (billed as "Rondo Hatton as Mario... The Monster-Man!"). Note that Rondo Hatton was an actor from the 1930s to the 1940s. He was afflicted with acromegaly which is "a chronic disease of adults marked by enlargement of the bones of the extremities, face, and jaw that is caused by overactivity of the pituitary gland". Hollywood saw in Hatton the chance to make money by exploiting the way the disease had distorted his features, and for several years prior to his death, he was a villain in low-budget horror movies.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.

Condition: fair to good. There is an 8" uneven tear that starts in the chin of the large headshot at top left, and extends right to the center of the woman's waist. There is separation and small paper loss at the crossfolds and pinholes and a few tears around the edges, with pieces of tape in the top corners. There is very little paper loss on the long tear described above (see our image), so after a relatively simple linenbacking, the poster will look great, but bear in mind the cost of restoration before placing a bid on this cool poster.
