Date Sold 4/26/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1965 Re-Release Theatrical Folded German Two-Panel Movie Poster (2p; measures 46 3/4" x 66" [119 x 168 cm]) (Learn More) Fanfan la Tulipe (released in the U.S. in 1953 as "Fanfan the Tulip"), the 1952 Christian-Jaque Italian/French swashbuckler romantic adventure comedy (set in the 18th century, a very clever story of a poor young man who has his fortune told by a gypsy, and she tells him that if he enlists in the army, he will become famous and marry the king's daughter, but after he enlists, he discovers the "gypsy" was actually the recruiting sergeant's daughter, and it was all a trick, but he sets out to make the false "fortune" come true, and by golly, he does!) starring Gerard Philipe (in the title role as Fanfan), Gina Lollobrigida, Marcel Herrand, Olivier Hussenot, Henri Rollan, Genevieve Page, and Jean Paredes NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this German two-panel measures 46 3/4" x 66" [119 x 168 cm]. Also note that this German two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Finally, note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Please note that this is one of the first 226 items we are currently auctioning in this set of auctions are mostly non-movie posters (and most of them are from countries outside the U.S.). It occurred to us that it makes far more sense to auction these in our auction of "special posters" (which also includes lots of non-movie posters) than in our auctions of "oversized rolled" items that include many U.S. posters (like banners, 40x60s, etc). This item needs to be shipped in a tube over 30" (perhaps much longer). WHILE IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THIS POSTER CAN BE COMBINED WITH THE 773 SPECIAL POSTERS THAT FOLLOWS THE FIRST 226, THERE ARE ALSO MANY CASES WHERE IT CAN NOT BE COMBINED. The main reason for this would be if you buy many of the regular posters and a small number of the very oversized ones. If they were combined, the very oversized one would surely become damaged, so in that case, it would need to go in its own tube, and please bear this in mind before bidding on this very oversized poster. Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
