8 Original Vintage Theatrical Color 8" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More)

Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the 1960 Michael Curtiz adventure comedy (based on the famous Mark Twain novel; "A wonderful world of excitement!") starring Tony Randall, Patty McCormack, Neville Brand, Mickey Shaughnessy, Judy Canova, Buster Keaton, Andy Devine, Finlay Currie, Sterling Holloway, Archie Moore (former light-heavyweight boxing champion; billed as "Presenting Archie Moore as Jim"), Eddie Hodges (billed as "Also starring Eddie Hodges as Huckleberry Finn"), and John Carradine. Note that this movie was originally begun in 1952, when it would have starred William Warfield as Jim (he had just made "Show Boat"). The project was naturally a musical and included four new songs by Alan Jay Lerner, and it would have had Dean Stockwell as Huck and Danny Kaye and Gene Kelly as the con men! But the project was abandoned. It was resurrected in 1959, and at that point, the musical idea was dropped, and it was filmed as a comedy with the above cast. One wonders what the original musical version would have been like, especially with that very different cast.

Important Added Info: Note that although these stills were "printed in Great Britain", they have full NSS information. Perhaps they were intended to be used in both countries (we have heard from collectors who saw these color stills in U.S. theaters at the time the movies were released, but we have not heard from any English collectors as to whether they were used in England at that time). If any English collector knows if these were or were not used in English theaters when the movies were released, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: good to very good.
