An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

Hollywood Bound, the 1947 going-to-Hollywood-to-be-a-star-and-defying-the-odds-and-making-good compilation of shorts ("The fascinating story of an exciting blonde who made good in Hollywood") starring Betty Grable, Joy Hodges, Lucille Ball, Jimmy Grier and his Orchestra, Walter Woolf King (billed as "Walter King"), and Gene Austin. Note that this was one of those somewhat sleazy releases that Hollywood is famous for! Betty Grable was a top star in the 1940s, but she had gotten her start appearing in RKO shorts in the mid-1930s, and some enterprising producer bought the rights to three of those (Ferry-Go-Round [1934], A Night at the Biltmore Bowl [1935], and The Spirit of 1976 [1935]), and they packaged them together into what appeared to be a brand new movie! No doubt all the movie fans who were sucked into seeing this were very disappointed!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this poster, and the last one was 11 years ago. The buyer of one of those posters had it linenbacked and has now reconsigned it to us, so this is still only one of two examples we have ever auctioned!

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some creases, smudges, and tears around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well!
