A Complete Set of 8 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Cock-Eyed World, the 1929 Raoul Walsh pre-Code U.S. Marine Corps military romantic love triangle musical comedy ("A sob... a sigh... a thrill... a cry!"; "Laugh till the tears roll down your back!"; "All talking, singing, laughing Fox Movietone comedy drama of hot mammas and fighting Marines"; "Two Roughneck Romeos Love and Fight and Talk"; "Story by Laurence Stallings and Maxwell Anderson"; this was a sequel of sorts to "What Price Glory", although in some ways it is a remake of that silent movie, with McLaglen & Lowe reprising their roles as tough Marines who compete for the same women all over the globe; there was one more sequel called "Women of All Nations") starring Victor McLaglen, Edmund Lowe, Lili Damita (billed as "Lily Damita"), Soledad Jimenez, and El Brendel. Note that this was a pre-Code movie with a lot of risque dialog and behavior (at one point, El Brendel introduces his girlfriend as "the lay of the land", and then points to a map on her hand!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that lobby cards from this movie are extremely rare. In 2014, we auctioned two individual scene cards, and they sold for $147 and $181, but those are the only two lobby cards we had ever auctioned before being consigned this complete set. Also note that these cards were made at the time when William Fox made lobby cards on a linen-like paper (like the paper stock that Warner Bros. used a number of years later). Also, the scene cards are a "full bleed" (no blank borders), and all the cards have really wonderful coloring! Condition: fine. Each of the cards has a tiny pinhole in each corner, but they are otherwise in really remarkable condition (see our images). The paper has not aged at all and the cards likely look almost exactly as they did when they were printed in 1929. None have had any sort of restoration, and they come together with the cover of the original bag (which was taped onto a manila envelope). Learn More about condition grades
