eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result #2322 HARLEM RIDES THE RANGE linen 1sh '39 Date Sold 8/19/2003Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Harlem Rides The Range, the 1939 Richard C. Kahn "all-colored cast" black African American western ("Men of action blaze a tail of love and lead as law and order comes to the old west!"; "Action on the Western plains!"; written by Spencer Williams) starring Herb Jeffries (billed as "Herbert Jeffrey and his horse 'Stardusk"), Lucius Brooks, F.E. Miller (Flourney E. Miller), Spencer Williams, Leonard Christmas and The Four Tones, and an "All-Colored Cast". Note that Herb Jeffries was a black African American actor who starred in four well-remembered all-black cast cowboy movies in the 1930s, but then largely retired from movies. Also note that Flourney Miller was a major figure in black Broadway musical history, performing and writing with his partner Aubrey Lyles. After Lyles passed away in 1933, Miller appeared in a number of all-black movies in the 1930s and 1940s. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. Prior to linenbacking, the poster was in fair to good condition. The poster had considerable damage along all the foldlines and around the edges of the poster extending 1-2" into the image on all sides. The restorer painted over all of the borders and did a fairly decent job repainting the image area, but there is quite a bit of paint over much of the poster. Learn More about condition grades
