Date Sold 8/3/2021Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) El Principe Gondolero (literally translates to "The Gondolier Prince"), the 1931 Edward D. Venturini Spanish-language romantic love triangle mistaken identity comedy starring Roberto Rey, Rosita Moreno, Andres de Segurola, Manuel Arbo, and Jose Pena. Apparently, this was a movie made by Paramount in 1931 with Spanish actors in the cast, and filmed entirely in Spanish, no doubt for release in Spain, South America, and Spanish speaking parts of the U.S. Yet, this is just guesswork, because we could find very little information about the movie. It is certainly possible that this movie is one of those from the very early 1930s that were made in more than one version, with different casts and different languages, but if so, we could find no reference to it anywhere. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this lobby card! Note that this lobby card was printed in the United States for use at theaters with Spanish speaking audiences (this was done most by MGM, starting in the 1930s, but it was done by the other major studios as well, and often the posters would have the exact same image as the English language poster, except the writing would be in Spanish, and on posters from the 1930s and 1940s there would be an added "Toda en Espanol!", meaning "Entirely in Spanish!", printed within the image). Sometimes posters from the 1960s or later will have the word "SPANISH" printed in the bottom border (or sometimes stamped on the back of the poster). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good. The entire card has darkened somewhat. It has tack holes, smudges, small stains, and paint stains around the edges. There are a few tiny stains scattered in the image. This is the sort of card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the smudges and stains can be removed through chemical means, and of course, most of the pinholes are in the blank borders, and after proper restoration, the card will display well. Please look closely at our images of the front and back of this card before bidding. Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
