Artist: Greg & Tim Hildebrandt
Important Added Info: Note that this is one of three British quads that were created for the 1977 release of this classic movie. In 1978, when the movie was still in first release in England, a new quad was prepared with the same Chantrell artwork as one of the earlier three quads, but with information about the awards it had won. Offered here is a "pre-Awards" British quad from 1977. Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 26 1/4" x 39" [67 x 99 cm]. It was trimmed by over 3" at the top, but it is entirely "sky" background that was trimmed off in that area (no other image or writing was trimmed). There was also a small amount trimmed from the left and right borders, but again, only sky background was affected, and no writing. We leave it to the bidders to decide how significant of a detraction this is.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster was trimmed on three sides (see above). In addition, the poster had tape stains in the corners. It had an extra horizontal fold across the center 1/2" below the regular one and some creases on some of the folds. It had small paper loss below the "S" of "STAR" and in the blank area at the top of the "W". It had a 3" tear in the bottom left going through the "M" of "HAMILL" and the "T" of "PETER". There was a 5" semi-circular tear starting at the bottom of the "W" of "WARS" and going into the background below, with some staining along that tear. Other than the trimming, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed, and in spite of the above defects, it displays well, but the restorer of course did not address the trimming issue. We leave it to the bidders to decide how significant a defect that is, but the poster will display well on the new owner's wall.
