An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Vertical British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) The Fairy Bottle, the 1913 David Aylott English silent fairy tale fantasy short (about a man given a bottle by a fairy which will grant him only good wishes, but he sells it to his landlord and it stops granting wishes, so he goes back to the fairy for another bottle but she gives him one that contains evil spirits, and after his family becomes terrified, he breaks into his landlord's home and switches out the bottles!) starring W. Gladstone Haley, and Una Tristam If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was tri-folded at one time, but it has been stored flat, and because it is very fragile we are not refolding it and it will be sent rolled in a tube. Also note that movie paper from this film is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we were consigned this poster! Also note that few people know that in the early days of British quads, they were originally in a vertical format (but they measured 30" x 40", just as they continue to do throughout the years). This is because so few of them survive, almost surely because of the massive paper shortages in England during World War II! At some point in the 1950s, they changed orientation to be horizontal, and they have remained that way to the present day. Finally note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II English poster! Virtually no English posters survive from the 1940s or earlier, because during World War II there were many paper shortages resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Condition: good. There is paper loss scattered in the top blank border and a smaller amount n the bottom blank border but only blank white paper is affected. There is an uneven 7" tear in the left of the bottom border that slightly enters the image background but there is no paper loss. Otherwise the poster has survived in surprisingly nice condition considering it is 111 years old, and after a simple linenbacking to repair the paper loss in the blank borders and the tear the poster will display really well!
