An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Disraeli, the 1929 Alfred E. Green England biographical political melodrama ("Based on the play by Louis N. Parker"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; a re-make of George Arliss' silent movie of the same name from 1921; this was a biography of the famous English Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, who was the only English Prime Minister of Jewish birth, although he converted at age 12, and the movie revolves around his efforts to make sure England owned the Suez Canal) starring George Arliss (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; reprising the same title role of Benjamin Disraeli that he played in the 1921 silent version of this movie), Joan Bennett, Florence Arliss, Anthony Bushell, David Torrence, and Doris Lloyd NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 1929 first release insert! Note that while this poster could conceivably be rolled, it is very old, and it would not make sense to roll it, as rolling it would have a good chance of damaging it. Therefore we will send it in a very large flat package, unless the new owner insists on us rolling it and will accept responsibility for the chance of damage. Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has a 1 1/2" tear and a 3" tear in the top border, both of which enter the background to the right of Arliss' head and which have tape on the back. It has some faint creases and scuffs scattered throughout. It has a slightly diagonal crease running across the lower part of Arliss' shirt at top center. It has two tears in the lower right border and one has tape on the back. It has light water staining in the left of the bottom border and a pencil mark in the right of the bottom border that extends into the bottom of the "O" of "BROS". There is a faint stain near the middle of the left border to the left of the "D" of the title. The poster has one more unusual defect. Apparently, someone had a child around ten years old that they needed to occupy, and they gave them a pencil and had them write a story about a cat and mouse on the back of the poster, which fills most of the back of the poster. They also set up little puzzles involving words with missing letters. None of this has much effect on the front, except that it is likely that the poster acquired its scuffing and faint staining on the front when it was turned over. In spite of the above defects, the poster can definitely still be displayed and enjoyed as it is, and of course, restoration can be performed. Learn More about condition grades
