An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Phantom of the Turf, the 1928 Duke Worne silent horse racing racetrack gambling sports melodrama ("Story by Leota Morgan"; a wacky story of the owner of a champion race horse who dies, and he had two children, a son and daughter, and a woman impersonates the daughter so that her father can gain control of the horse, but then the real son surfaces, and he can expose them, but he falls in love with his fake "sister", and naturally, everything works out in the end and the horse wins the big race as well) starring Helene Costello, Rex Lease, Forrest Stanley, Danny Hoy, and Clarence Wilson NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the top crossfold and a tear to the left of that, with tiny paper loss at the end of the tear. There was a tear near the top of the man's sweater, but otherwise, the image area is in pretty nice condition. There were pinholes, tears, and some paper loss in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed onto thin linen with some restoration in the blank borders, and no excess (see our image).
