An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (printed in Spanish in the U.S. for Spanish audiences; 27" x 41") (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds, the classic 1963 Alfred Hitchcock suspense horror thriller ("Nothing you have ever witnessed before has prepared you for such sheer stabbing shock!"; "'It could be the most terrifying motion picture I have ever made!' - Alfred Hitchcock"; "'...and remember, the next scream you hear may be your own!'"; "The birds is here!"; "Daphne Du Maurier's shattering psychic thriller."; "Based on Daphne Du Maurier's Classic Suspense Story!") starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, Tippi Hedren (billed as "Introducing 'Tippi' Hedren, A Fascinating New Personality"), Veronica Cartwright (13 years old), and Richard Deacon. Note that Alfred Hitchcock used the two taglines "The birds is coming!" and "The birds is here!" on several different types of advertising for this movie, no doubt because he thought it was funny that while it is technically grammatically correct when referring to the movie, they "sound wrong"! Important Added Info: Note that this poster was printed in the United States for use at theaters with Spanish speaking audiences. It was an unusual horizontal style one-sheet, with an image of Hitchcock pointing at birds in the distance with the classic tagline from the movie, "The birds is coming" (in Spanish). Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it had fairly significant defects that were corrected during the linenbacking process, and they are somewhat noticeable even from a distance. Some collectors could accept these defects and display this poster as is, and others would want additional professional restoration before they would display it. You can tell more about what defects this poster had and how good the restoration was by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had many light scuffs and creases in all the solid black areas. There were a large number creases throughout Hitchcock's face and figure. There were creases, separation, and small tears along the foldlines. There were pinholes and small areas of paper loss around the borders. The person who backed the poster pretty much just left it as is, although they did some border restoration. From several feet away, the creases in the poster are not that noticeable or distracting, but they are very evident from close up. A talented restorer could surely greatly improve the appearance of the poster, but it would require paint restoration. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects, or are willing to pay to have them further restored. Learn More about condition grades
