Mankiewicz Rome Italy historical epic ("MGM's Acclaimed Production of William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar"; "Enjoy the dramatic highlights from 'Julius Caesar' in the MGM records album"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; based on the famous play by William Shakespeare) starring Marlon Brando (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; "as Mark Antony"), James Mason ("as Brutus"), John Gielgud ("as Cassius"), Louis Calhern (in the title role "as Julius Caesar"), Edmond O'Brien ("as Casca"), Greer Garson ("as Calpurnia"), and Deborah Kerr ("as Portia") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is from an "international" style set of lobby cards (meaning they were printed in the U.S. for use in non-U.S. countries). Somewhere in the early 1960s, MGM apparently made a huge "trade" deal with European movie distributors. From the early 1960s to the late 1960s, MGM released 100 or more non-U.S. movies in the U.S. under the MGM logo (some dating back to the 1950s), and in return, they apparently gave 100 or more MGM movies (from the 1950s and early 1960s) to those European distributors to release in Europe. All of the posters from both sets of releases have a very similar type of somewhat garish, very colorful artwork, and most have an MGM logo that is different from that on other MGM movies of the same time period. None of these posters or lobby cards (except for the very first few of them) have any dates on them. This particular card is from one of the movies that MGM sent for European release (and this is one of the movies that IS an MGM movie). If anyone knows more about these MGM releases, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Condition: very good to fine. Other than a label on the back of the card, it is in really excellent condition!
