What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. Apparently, before the poster was backed, it was displayed, and the reds in the poster have pretty much disappeared (there was red in the soldier's face and on his epaulet, but most noticeably red blood on his knife and on the ground by his foot, and all that is gone. The poster also had staining scattered in the bottom, with some smudges, tears, and pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair condition prior to linenbacking (because of the fading). The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did not attempt to put back the reds in the poster). If I owned this poster, I would surely have a restorer put the reds back, and it would display well, but of course, it would have significant restoration. Please do not bid on this poster unless you have read the above carefully.
