Date Sold 5/3/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) I'm No Angel, the 1933 Wesley Ruggles circus sideshow romantic love triangle musical comedy ("Come up and see me sometime - any time!"; "Goodness... has nothing to do with it!"; about a sexy dancer in a third rate circus; she lives with a guy, but that doesn't stop her from seeing other men; when her boyfriend goes to jail, she becomes the lion tamer; she gets a rich playboy boyfriend, but she wants his cousin, played by super young Cary Grant!) starring Mae West, Cary Grant (in his 12th movie role!), Gregory Ratoff, Edward Arnold, Ralf Harolde, Kent Taylor, and William B. Davidson. Note that this movie was originally called "It Ain't No Sin", and the enactment of the Production Code caused the title to be changed to the much tamer "I'm No Angel", and apparently caused several racy scenes to end up on the cutting room floor! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that Mae West's most famous catchphrase was "Come up and see me sometime - any time!", and on this window card that phrase is above an image of Mae West and young Cary Grant! Note that this window card, and several other items that are in this Major Auction, were purchased from us over the last few years by a very longtime collector. He has very unfortunately had significant health issues, which has caused him to re-consign these items. Also note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good. There is some light staining scattered through the card and there are some small tack holes around the edges of the card, with five within in the image, but none within the stars' faces or the credits. Still, a restorer could certainly rescue this card. But please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored. Because the light staining is not that noticeable from a reasonable viewing distance, this window card could be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or one could choose to have the above defects corrected through restoration. Either way, the new owner will have a wonderful window card (with one of the most famous taglines of all time) to display on their wall! Learn More about condition grades
